Reducing Chromium Emissions from Factory in Paramount, California

After the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) reportedly found high levels of the carcinogenic chemical hexavalent chromium near Anaplex, a metal-finishing facility located in Paramount, the County filed a joint lawsuit with SCAQMD seeking to reduce the air pollution.  Anaplex’s hexavalent chromium emissions are reportedly now 10 times lower than before we filed the lawsuit.  Anaplex has agreed to an Order of Abatement, which will remain in effect until Anaplex completes and implements a Risk Reduction Plan to permanently reduce emissions.

*Although Anaplex settled this lawsuit, it did not admit liability; nor did it admit the allegations of the County’s complaint.
